Hankin’s Story
Hankin LLC was developed by Abram Kaplan in 2021 in response to the documentary film "Kiss the Ground" and its encouragement to implement regenerative agricultural practices. Kaplan, a professor of Sustainability and Environmental Studies at Denison University," built the infrastructure and business through solo DIY construction and multiple collaborative efforts with Denison students through a series of summer internships. The mission of Hankin LLC is to provide sustainably grown niche products for local customers, focusing primarily on microgreens and herbs.
Our Values
Sustainability is a top priority at Hankin. We use technology such as hydroponics to use the least amount of soil and create the least amount of waste.
We value sustainability in every aspect of our business. Solar panels have been constructed on the property to use efficient clean energy. A large solar array on the property provides efficient, clean, renewable electricity for all of the greenhouse's power needs

The theme of sustainability permeates all of our practices at Hankin LLC. That includes sustainable human health, and the management practices we use in-house. That means following all FDA protocols for handling and packaging our produce, using appropriate safety equipment, and cleaning/sanitizing all of the tools and surfaces that are part of our harvesting processes.
